What is Tufdek?
TUFDEK is a fully adhered thermally welded vinyl membrane that creates a 100% watertight deck system. It is a long lasting, durable walking surface. TUFDEK can be installed on decks, roof decks, sun decks, roof top patios, walkways, stairways and above ground concrete slabs. Contact ACMS to get a quote on your project.
Installation Process
The first step in our process is to properly prepare the deck surface for installation. Depending on the existing decking system, this may involve lightly sanding the current surface to achieve a smooth, even finish, or removing the old material entirely and installing new plywood to create a solid foundation for application.
Next, we prepare the deck for proper adhesion by filling any cracks or holes with a specialized filler designed specifically for the Tufdek system. Once the filler is applied and cured, the surface is carefully sanded to create a smooth, even finish—ensuring optimal bonding and a flawless installation.
With the surface fully prepared, the installation process begins. We start by securing metal deck flashings along the outer edges to ensure proper water management and a clean finish. The Tufdek vinyl membrane is then carefully rolled out across the deck surface, with precise cuts made around any obstacles or protrusions. Once properly positioned, a high-performance roll-on adhesive is applied, and the vinyl is firmly pressed into place to achieve a secure, watertight bond.
After the vinyl has been positioned and all bubbles and wrinkles have been smoothed out, the seams, corners, and overlaps are heat-welded to create a seamless, watertight finish that ensures long-lasting protection and durability.
